The Importance of Body Exfoliation part one
Body exfoliation helps to ease dry skin, prevents ingrown hairs caused by shaving and waxing, and helps the skin on one’s body to absorb moisturizers. It has been recommended by beauty professionals that one should use a body scrub once a week to keep skin feeling soft and refreshed.
Body scrubs are invigorating and very easy to make. They should be applied in the shower. Always apply them before shaving one’s legs, rather than after, to prevent irritation.
Here are some homemade body scrubs:
Cream of Wheat Body Scrub: Simply mix ½ cup regular Cream of Wheat (not instant) with 1 egg white and ¼ cup of vegetable oil. Rub all over the arms, legs, and torso. Rinse in the shower. Do not mix this recipe ahead of time, or the cereal will become too soft to be effective. Apply moisturizer and enjoy one’s silky skin.
Salt Scrub: Mix ½ cup of iodized salt or Epson salts with ½ vegetable oil. Scoop up mixture with one’s fingers and begin rubbing all over one’s legs, arms, and torso. This application should be done in the shower on damp skin, but try not to let the shower wet the area one is rubbing, because the water can dissolve the salt. The longer one rubs, the smoother one’s skin will feel. Rinse in the shower, and then follow-up with shower wash. This mixture is a little harsh for the face, so avoid working it above the neck. Apply a moisturizer after towel drying.
