Here are some gift ideas for long haul truckers. Over the road truck drivers spend hours upon hours in the cab of their eighteen wheelers so why not give them something to make their lives more comfortable? As someone who once drove a truck on long haul trips across the West, I have a few suggestions for trucker gift ideas. I’ll start off with the lower cost truck driver gift items first.

Most long haul truckers I know drink coffee, a lot of coffee. Out West truck stops may be a hundred miles or more in between and once you are rolling, time is money and most dispatchers frown on frequent stops.  You might consider items like a tough Thermos. The price of these have come down drastically in recent years. I remember paying forty dollars for one of these in the 80′s. A Thermos for truck drivers should hold at least forty ounces of coffee to be practical.

For stocking stuffer gift ideas for truckers you might consider hard candies, gum, beef jerky, etc. Also consider healthy treats and vitamins as a gift for truckers since it can be an unhealthy lifestyle.  Even something like one of the new “Bullet” blenders and a container of protein shake mix might be a good truck driver gift idea.

Along the lines of more expensive gifts for truckers you might consider a GPS navigator or a  new CB radio. Almost every truck driver on the road still uses a CB radio, especially long haul truckers.  You’ll want a model of CB radio that has talkback, an SWR meter and all the bells and whistles. Another great truck driver gift idea is a pair of good quality sunglasses. UV rays cause cataracts and vision loss, so protecting your vision is very important, especially for over the road truckers.  Choose a pair of sunglasses that blocks at least 90% of UV rays. You might consider a pair of amber lenses as well, for night and evening vision enhancement.  Some sunglasses automatically darken when exposed to UV rays but a truck’s windshield blocks UV rays and therefore auto darkening sunglasses will not work in the cab. It’s hard to beat the quality of Ray Ban Aviators and the classic look.

In addition to the trucker gifts on this page, you may find a good selection of items such as inverters, mini fridges, etc at your local truck stop where they usually have a wide selection of gifts for truckers.  DC to AC inverters make a good present for truckers because they can be used to run a laptop while on the road.
