I have had it hard this past couple of years and I wanted to sign my children up on the angel tree list. I was let off from my relatively decent paying job and I had to do with 2 minimum wage jobs just to make up for the income, and still it was not enough. I had nothing to spend on getting Christmas gifts for the kids and I knew that I somehow had to sign my children up on the angel tree list- no matter what. I needed some form of Christmas assistance for my family. However, I initially had absolutely no clue on where to start. I thankfully had a computer and an internet connection so I spent a lot of time after work really researching on how to sign my children up on the angel tree, and guess what, perseverance certainly pays off. I managed to sign my children up on the angel tree list and got them gifts this past couple of Christmases.
The story is that I am a single mother of 3. The father of the kids got arrested for manslaughter (over-speeding) and has been serving time for the past 5 years now. My kids are 11, 8 and 6 and it is really not easy being the primary and sole breadwinner of the family. I never knew about charity organizations that give kids free toys during Christmas because I myself was not a very Christian-like lady. I never attended church before and don’t even have time to do so now that I am working two 8-hour shift jobs a day. I didn’t know that I could sign my children up on the angel tree in our very own local church. I came to know this after searching online and finding out that a lot of faith based organizations- especially churches- are the best places for me to sign my children up on the angel tree. All I had to do to sign my children up on the angel tree was to register but I showed proof of birth and income and the fact that my husband was in prison over 200 miles away-just to show that I am honest of my word.
You can also find local charities that do the same. All I had to do to sign my children up on the angel tree was to simply go to church, ask around and register. Not all churches are with this program but a lot of them are. I also found out that there are a lot of other ways to sign my children up on the angel tree. I could have gone to the community center or the recreational center and find a few kiosks where I could have registered. There are a few radio shows wherein you can do the same. I really wanted so sign my children up on the angel tree and I did it-all it takes is a little sniffing around and a few phone calls to do so.
