Writing online has its rewards. It had been two years since I started writing online with the simple goal of earning enough to pay for my internet connection. I got more than that at this point while writing on a part time basis since I have a regular job to attend to. If you would like to learn how I did it, then read on.

I have tried many websites and strategies to earn online. The two major online activities that I did include creating a website so I can avail of Google Adsense earnings through the ads placed on it and writing for different free writing sites that offer revenue sharing (from Google Ads, Yahoo Ads, Chitika, among others) for its members.

Among the things I learned while engaging in online writing is the need to ensure a sustainable number of page views such that there is greater probability of getting ad clicks. More ad clicks means more revenue for your online articles. On the average, using my Google Adsense Analytics data, I got one click for every 70 views. One click could earn anywhere between a few cents to even half a dollar. You may be lucky if you every get more than $1 for a click. So the key, really, is to get as many views as you can in your articles.

Among those things that I learned in the course of my two year online writing experience done on a part time basis that will help increase page views are the following:

1. Write factual articles that are unique.

2. Promote your articles through social networking sites like Booksie, Stumble Upon, Yahoo Buzz, among others.

3. Promote your articles in search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, Baidu, Yandex, Lexxe, or similar sites.

4. Use keywords that matter (see my previous article on how to select the best keywords).

5. Write with passion.

Yes, write with passion. I think the tip to write with passion should be placed first but many people say you should reserve the best for the last. If you write with passion, it will just show in your writing. And this will sustain you to write more. More articles mean more page views, and more page views mean more revenues.

After writing more than 300 articles online, I look back and say, without that inner drive to write with passion this could not have been possible. So write with passion, rest assured your writing venture will last and enable you to earn more than you expected or want.
