If you are just getting started with herb gardening, mint is one of the easiest herbs to grow. But if you are not accustomed to using herbs, it may be difficult to know what to do with them. Because mint is such a prolific grower, you will want to harvest it regularly, and so here are some ways to use mint in your household.

Iced tea and hot tea: not only can you put a leaf of mint in either iced tea or hot tea, you can make either of these drinks entirely from mint. Mint iced tea is a great refreshing drink, and since it has no caffeine, is safe for even young children to drink. Because of its benefits, mint iced tea is a wonderful alternative to sodas. In addition, mint iced tea is nutritious and helps to freshen your breath!

Mint leaves can be chopped and added to salads, or served as a garnish on a plate (again, it helps to promote fresh breath). Children love mint on salad and chopped into vegetables, as well!

Mint can be used to flavour vodka, or used in alcoholic drinks. Mint juleps, that Kentucky Derby favourite, and mojitos are two popular alcoholic drinks that use mint.

Mint can also be added to coffee, or frozen in ice cubes, or made into a sorbet for a cold, refreshing dessert. In fact, no matter what uses you manage come up with for mint, you will find that it is a delicious addition to your garden and your life!
